Wash, Rinse and Repeat

If the number of car service receipts in my purse is a measure of the work week, then this one was a doozy. My ability to come up with some clever theme for this post is zapped, so you get lists instead. Graham will just have to deal. :)

Why I love living in NYC (this week's edition):

- As I approached the crosswalk at Cooper Square on Saturday, I saw an aqua leisure suit and a beat up turntable hanging on the lamp post. Unfortunately the only person around to appreciate the irony was a homeless guy celebrating 4/20 a day early.
- My landlord asked me how the weather was in my apartment.
- I saw Adrian Brody shopping at H&M.
- I met Mikey and friends at the Brooklyn Brewery on Friday after work (http://www.brooklynbrewery.com/). And, although I had to take three Brooklyn trains to get there (boo), it has officially been added to my favorites list. It's like St. Arnold's with more hipsters. Greg- you should def add this to the schedule for your next visit.
- The pope mobile (with the Pope in it of course) drove right in front of my office.

Things I’m looking forward to this summer:

- Feist at Prospect Park (http://nymag.com/listings/nightlife/feist2/) -- Tickets were officially purchased this week. Singalong practice sessions to be scheduled shortly.
- The Beer Garden (http://nymag.com/listings/bar/bohemian_hall_and_beer_garden/) -- There are only two good reasons to visit Astoria -- 1. to hang out with Jen and 2. the garden de beer.
- Brooklyn Cherry Blossom Festival (http://www.bbg.org/exp/cherries/)
- Summer work hours (every other Friday off -- wahoo!)
- Baby OC’s arrival
- Running the half marathon –- I did my first 10-mile run yesterday. Let's just say I'm paying for it this morning.
- Being only one stinky Chinatown bus ride away from Julie

Wash, Rinse and Repeat (songs my iPod is sick of playing):

- No Ones Gonna Love You, Band of Horses
- Que Onda Guero, Beck
- Bowtie, OutKast
- Young Folks, Peter Bjorn & John
- Lazy Eye, Silversun Pickups
- Chicago, Sufjan Stevens

Brooklyn Brewery is a cool stop... and the beer is better than what Brock makes here in Houston.
Brooklyn Brewery Fun Fact: they paid some high profile artist to come up with an iconic logo. The guy came up with a script "B" (in the style of the baseball team). You know what this cost the brewery? Freebies for life for the artist AND a piece of the brewery's profits! I say they got robbed. Speaking of getting robbed, when I toured there they said that they used to get robbed so much back in the day they started to get used to it. Yikes.

Yeah, it can be a bit sketch over there. But the neighborhood is changing. You now have million dollar lofts next to abandoned junk yards across the street from $15/drink hipster lounges. Welcome to Brooklyn :)

Small world with Mikey's sister working with me! Still amazes me how many Clements grads are in the city.
